Born in China and later moved to Hong Kong, Joan soon found her interest and had the blessings to design interiors in her early age. First she had her parents' apartment made over from scratch, then went on designing other residential and office interiors, and custom furniture.
Her love for visual arts grew stronger. While studying for a business degree in Hong Kong, Joan founded a photography business in 1992, then went on to establish a branch office in Beijing five years later. Her business, now under the care of her family members, has been a major player in the trade to this date.
To fulfill her passion in interior design, Joan graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Interior Design from School of Visual Arts, New York City. She won the Gold Medal Award for Outstanding Achievement in Interior Design. Being top of the class and scholarship recipient, her projects were exhibited in many gallery events and design centers; she was the only one from the Interior Design Department being featured in the School Annual; her work was chosen for appearance in a professional trade magazine. In 2004, her thesis project had earned her the First Place Winner in a statewide competition in New York.
Being exposed to different cultures and religions, values and art forms, Joan has deepened her belief that good design comes from good cause, and that each space is personal. Her creative passion is to turn any space into dynamic, artistic and distinctive contemporary style. She also feels obliged to promote overall well-being to her clients through applying the art of Feng Shui during space planning phase and more.
Joan has been a member to both American Society of Interior Designers and Design Society of America. Her recent work has been featured in high-end lifestyle magazines both in the States and China, among them are the NJ Savvy Living, The Discerning Lifestyle, and For Him Magazine.
